Celebrating Women in Business

Updated: Nov 29, 2023

National Business Women's Awards Finalist

We recently had the pleasure of attending the National Business Women's Awards as finalists in the Business Owners of the Year category. Sadly we didn't win, but as a

small business, being a finalist was a remarkable achievement for us.

Since we founded the business, we have had a roller coaster of a ride with many highs and lows. But the belief in what we do with our sustainability services, our dogged determination and our genuine passion to support businesses on their ESG journey has enabled us to successfully run the business for over five years.

Some of our highlights over that half a decade include:

  • Worked with over 30 clients from publicly listed and privately owned companies, charities and social enterprises supporting on them on a broad range of projects including ESG Strategy, ESG reporting, Net Zero Transition Plans, Social Value Frameworks and delivering training and engagement sessions for leadership teams.

  • Delivered work in a range of sectors including housebuilding, real estate, manufacturing, automotive, financial services, pharmaceutical, IT and communications to name a few.

  • Provided social value bid support to over £1.5bn of public sector contracts.

  • Hosted webinars to over 200 SMEs to support them on their sustainability journey.

  • Worked with some amazing business mentors who have challenged our thinking and helped us along the way.

Importance of female entrepreneurs

Women entrepreneurs make a vital contribution to the UK economy, contributing over £105bn GVA.

However, only 1 in 3 entrepreneurs are female, less than 20% of SMEs are led by women (this hasn’t changed in nearly a decade) and only 2% of VC funding goes to female founded businesses.

If more companies committed to working with female led businesses like ours, it would help increase the number of women led businesses and promote inclusive economic growth. In turn it would help your business demonstrate to stakeholders the inclusive procurement strategies in place.

Huge congratulations to Margaret Whittaker OBE, Founder of Slimming World who won the Lifetime Achievement Award and Overall Award and fellow finalists Yana Lapitskaya & Jessy Conflon from Yay!Starter Marketing.

The National Business Women's Awards provide an opportunity to showcase and celebrate the diversity of female led businesses here in the UK who bring creativity and a fresh perspective to the table whilst prioritizing social good. We are so proud and inspired to be part of that community.
